Every plan includes one staging environment. One click clones your live site, files and database together, to a private staging URL. Make your changes there, look at them properly, and push to production when you're happy. A backup is taken automatically before anything goes live.

We apply core security releases for you, with a backup taken first. Plugin and theme updates stay under your control, which is exactly what staging is for.

Yes. WP Business and WP Scale carry 2 GB PHP memory limits, priority edge routing and object caching, which is the combination busy stores tend to need. WP Scale also lets a single database grow to 5 GB, which matters once a catalogue and its order history get large.

It is the same acceleration layer our Accelerated plans are built on, and WP Scale is the only WordPress tier that includes it. Three things come with it: higher clock speed compute benchmarking around 25% faster than our standard nodes, content pre-cached across the edge network so cache hit rates stay high in every region, and a database ceiling of 5 GB rather than 1 GB. For a busy store with a large catalogue, that combination is the difference.

Each WordPress Optimized plan covers one site, with its own staging environment, so several sites means several plans. That is deliberate: the tuning, caching and staging on these plans are set up around a single site rather than shared out between several. If you would rather keep a group of WordPress sites together on one account and one bill, our Basic Shared and Accelerated plans host up to 30 and 100 sites respectively, with WordPress available in the one-click installer. You give up staging and the WordPress-specific caching, and you gain everything on one plan.

Room, not site count. Every tier is one site with one staging environment; what changes as you move up is storage, bandwidth, PHP memory, mailboxes, backup retention and how large a single database can grow. Pick the tier that matches how busy the site is, not how many sites you have.

These plans are tuned specifically for WordPress. For a general-purpose PHP site, look at Basic Shared or Accelerated.

Usually within a few minutes of your payment clearing. Provisioning is automated, so in the normal case your login details arrive and you can start uploading straight away.

A couple of things finish shortly after the account rather than at the same moment. Your SSL certificate is issued and propagates within about 30 minutes, so the padlock can take a little longer to appear than the account does. On these plans WordPress itself is installed for you, and that step usually finishes within half an hour of the account appearing.

Occasionally an order is flagged for manual review by our automated fraud checks. That is rare, but when it happens somebody looks at it by hand before the account is created, which delays setup. If your account has not appeared shortly after paying, that is almost always why, and you can ask us at any point.
